With the football fever gripping the world it comes as no surprise that stadiums are getting renovated. Netherlands-based firm Signify which was formerly known as Philips lighting has illuminated 10 out of 12 stadiums hosting this summer’s soccer tournament in Russia with LED pitch lighting. The stadiums include Luzhniki (Moscow), Krestovsky Stadium (Saint Petersburg), Fisht (Sochi), Ekaterinburg Arena (Yekaterinburg), as well as soccer stadiums in Kazan, Rostov-on-Don, Kaliningrad, Nizhny Novgorod, Volgograd, and Samara
Signify’s LED pitch lighting has been installed in Ekaterinburg Arena. The LED lighting renders players and fans with the best quality. It is ideal for 4K TV transmissions and UHDTV super slow-motion action replays for the TV viewers wanting to capture all the drama on the pitch. The LED pitch lighting implemented can be synced to music in order to produce splendid pre-match displays.
Also, a 39,000 square meter of LED media roof was installed at Moscow’s Luzhniki stadium, making it one of the largest media façades in Russia. The one-of-a-kind light shows from the façade before, during, and after games will increase excitement levels for fans across the city.
“We have more than 80 years of experience in lighting sports events and are recognized as the world leader in sports illumination,” said Sergey Karpov, Head of sports lighting of Signify in Russia. “Through these installations, fans and television viewers around the world will enjoy their favorite game while soccer players on the field will get the optimum visibility.”
